GEO Ready: Be the Answer AI Gives

Talked About Marketing's GEO Ready service makes small and medium business websites visible to AI search engines including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Perplexity. Three packages available: GEO Scout Report ($195 + GST), GEO Foundation ($645 + GST), and GEO Complete ($1,845 + GST). Based in Adelaide, serving businesses across Australia.

Has your business disappeared from search?

A long-term client who has been running a Darwin fishing charter business for more than 10 years, with a solid reputation, spent most of that time on the front page of Google. Then, almost overnight: gone. Buried under aggregator sites and paid listings, invisible across the first three or four pages of results.

She got the cold call from a sleazy SEO firm promising to fix it. We told her to cancel that appointment.

The underlying problem, though, was real. And it is affecting more businesses than most people realise.

Steve Davis spoon feeding AI for our GEO Ready packages

Here’s Steve Davis, spoon feeding AI bots. As this page explains, part of the process for being GEO ready is chopping up your information into smaller mouthfuls, as you would if you were caring for an infant.

Why are AI search engines changing everything?

When someone searches for a business today, they are increasingly not getting a list of links to browse. They are getting a single, confident AI answer: this is the place, this is what they do, this is why they are the right fit for you.

AI search engines, Google’s Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity among them, do not browse and compare the way a human does. They make a recommendation. If your business is not providing the right kind of content in the right format, you are invisible to that recommendation, regardless of how good your actual business is.

Traditional SEO rewarded the biggest budgets and the most backlinks. The businesses with the cleverest technical tricks floated to the top, whether they deserved to be there or not.

Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) rewards the clearest answer and the most verifiable expertise. You do not need to out-spend a national aggregator. You need to provide a better, more specific, more factual answer than your nearest competitor.

For small and medium businesses, this is genuinely levelling ground.

Why does warm, story-driven copy fail AI engines?

Your website was written for humans. Inviting, story-driven copy that makes a visitor feel understood and recognised as the right fit. That is exactly what the StoryBrand framework produces, and it works.

The catch: that warmth is often invisible to an AI engine.

Language like “nestled in the heart of the city, our beautiful practice captures the essence of…” gives an AI engine nothing useful. No hard facts. No distances. No credentials it can verify. No numbers.

AI engines do not feel inspired by your copy. They extract. They scan a page, grab a block of useful information, and use it to answer a question elsewhere. If your pages do not contain factual, structured content, they get passed over.

GEO Ready adds the machine-readable layer your site is currently missing. The StoryBrand narrative stays. The human warmth stays. Your site simply becomes visible to both audiences: the human reader and the AI engine forming a recommendation about you.

When these seven elements are working together, your message stops being something people scroll past. It becomes something they recognise themselves in.

What are the five building blocks of GEO visibility?

Are your pages giving AI engines something to work with? Answer Nuggets fix that.

Think about caring for someone who is elderly, unwell, or very young. You do not serve them a whole roast. You chop the food into small, manageable pieces they can take in easily and safely.

That is what an Answer Nugget does for an AI engine.

At the top of each key page, before your narrative copy begins, we place a short paragraph of 30 to 50 words. No adjectives. Pure fact: who you are, what you do, where you are, what makes you verifiable. Written in plain language that an AI engine can lift directly and use to answer a question about your category.

Research shows 44 per cent of AI citations come from the first 30 per cent of a page. A well-written Answer Nugget dramatically increases the chance your page gets cited when someone asks an AI engine for a recommendation in your space.

The human reader scrolls straight past it to your story. The AI engine finds exactly what it needs.

Does your website have a greatest hits version for AI engines? An llms.txt file provides one.

Every music lover knows the value of a greatest hits album. You do not need to listen to everything an artist has recorded. The album gives you the essential tracks, the ones that tell you who this artist is and why they matter, in one place.

Your llms.txt file is the greatest hits version of your business, written for AI engines.

It is a plain text document placed at the root of your website. No code. No design. A clean, structured summary of who you are, who you serve, what you offer, and direct links to your most important pages. Instead of forcing an AI crawler to wade through 50 pages of complex website code, you hand it a curated map.

The cover of a greatest hits album matters too. The first entries in your llms.txt create the strongest first impression. We write these with care, putting your most search-relevant content front and centre.

Most businesses do not have one. The ones that do have a structural advantage that compounds over time.

Do AI engines know what each page on your site actually is? Schema markup tells them directly.

Walk into any good bookshop or library and you immediately know where to go. The signs tell you: Geography. Thrillers. Children’s. Business. You do not have to read every spine to find what you need. The structure does the work.

Schema markup is the equivalent system for your website. It is invisible code embedded in each page that explicitly tells AI engines what type of page this is and what the key facts mean.

Without schema, an AI engine has to infer. It sees a number on your page and guesses it might be a phone number. It sees some text and tries to work out whether it is an address or a description.

With schema, there is no guessing. This is a phone number. This is a physical address at these coordinates. This is the price range. This is a booking page. This is a FAQ. Every page on your site needs to be correctly categorised in this way. It is how AI engines build trust in your content, and how they verify your business is a legitimate, consistent entity.

Is your business visible in the regional context AI engines are building? The Good Neighbour Strategy addresses that.

AI engines do not see the internet as a collection of separate websites. They see a connected map of entities: people, places, businesses, landmarks, and institutions that relate to each other.

If your website mentions a well-known local landmark, a respected institution, or a verified nearby business, AI engines associate you with those trusted, established entities. Some of their credibility attaches to you.

A psychology practice that mentions its proximity to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital sits differently in an AI knowledge map than one that mentions nothing nearby. A bed and breakfast that lists the wineries, bakeries, and historic sites within 20 minutes of its door becomes part of the regional story those landmarks tell.

No business is an island. Unless you are literally an island resort, in which case, location confirmed.

We identify the right neighbours for your business and weave them into your content in a way that reads naturally for humans and carries real weight for AI engines.

Are your name, address, and phone number consistent everywhere they appear? Inconsistency costs you recommendations.

Name. Address. Phone number.

If these three pieces of information do not match exactly across every platform you appear on, AI engines treat it as a data conflict. “Street” versus “St” or “Road” versus “Rd” can cause a business to be excluded from AI recommendations entirely.

We audit your digital footprint across your website, Google Business Profile, industry directories, and social platforms. We check that AI crawlers can actually access your site, because many security plugins accidentally block them. We verify your robots.txt file is not turning away the very bots that could be recommending you.

This is the unglamorous foundation that everything else sits on. It is also where we consistently find problems that have been quietly costing businesses for years without anyone noticing.

Does the GEO audit find problems beyond AI search?

Yes, and this surprises most clients.

Running a thorough GEO audit means examining every corner of your digital presence with fresh eyes. When you do that systematically, you find things that have nothing to do with AI search but have been causing quiet damage for years.

Stale addresses in directories. Conflicting phone numbers from an old location. Pages returning errors that no one knew about. Business descriptions that describe a service you no longer offer. An old website that never got properly redirected.

These are not GEO problems. They are general digital marketing faults that crept in over time and never got cleaned up because no one was looking. The GEO audit catches them. The same work that prepares you for AI search also tidies up years of accumulated digital clutter.

After 8,000 conversations, we know this is not rare. It is almost universal.

What tool do we use to research your site before we start?

Before a human being does a single hour of work on your project, our proprietary GEO Scout tool runs a structured research pass across your website.

Given your URL, GEO Scout fetches your key pages, maps your sitemap, searches for your business facts across the web, and produces a pre-filled report showing everything it found, everything it had to infer, and everything it could not find at all. Each item carries a confidence rating: verified, inferred, or missing.

GEO Scout finds things human researchers miss: stale addresses in directories, conflicting phone numbers, missing pages returning errors, AI crawlers accidentally blocked by security plugins. When we sit down with you to talk through the findings, we already know your business better than most advisers would after an hour of conversation.

Which GEO Ready package is right for your business?

GEO Scout Report: where do you stand right now?

$195 + GST

The GEO Scout Report gives you a thorough, honest picture of what AI engines currently see when they look at your business, and a clear roadmap for what to address. You get:

Best for businesses that want to understand the landscape before committing to implementation, or that have internal capacity to act on the recommendations themselves.

NOTE: This will be a starting point for you. You will want to change, challenge, and reword the drafts, etc. But the value is that this is what the robots find and see. If this report frustrates you into action, that is a great outcome.

GEO Foundation: how do you build the essential layer across your core pages?

$645 + GST

GEO Foundation takes everything in the Scout Report and implements it properly, with expert oversight at every step. You also get:

Best for businesses ready to implement the core GEO layer properly, with a clear path to completion.

GEO Complete: how do you optimise every page and every signal across your entire site?

$1,845 + GST

GEO Complete covers everything in GEO Foundation, then goes further across up to 15 pages in total. This package also includes:

Best for businesses serious about AI search visibility, regulated industries requiring careful compliance review, and sites with multiple pages or multiple locations.

What about regulated industries like health, finance, and law?

Every piece of GEO output we produce for regulated industries is checked against compliance guidelines before it goes anywhere near your site.

For allied health and psychology clients this means AHPRA compliance: no outcome guarantees, no specialist claims beyond formally endorsed qualifications, no testimonial language. We flag rather than assume. If a compliance call is ambiguous, it goes back to you or your compliance adviser before it is published. That boundary does not move.

Can anyone guarantee you the top spot in AI search results?

No. Anyone making that promise is selling something worth avoiding.

AI search recommendations are built from dozens of signals we can influence but cannot control entirely. What we can tell you is that the businesses building this foundation now are accumulating an advantage. The businesses that leave it alone are building a deficit that costs more to close the longer they wait.

Clear positioning first. GEO optimisation second. In that order.

This is why we always encourage you to undertake our StoryBrand Framework process first because it gives you a brand messaging foundation that makes your words worth reading by both humans and AI engines!

And for organisations and larger small businesses, we offer our grounded and practical approach to strategic planning sessions that focus on deep reflection and then achievable action.
