And Here’s What Claude Said When I Asked What’s The Catch?
The catch: it’s a scam (or at best a grey-market resale racket), and it’s not from Anthropic.
Red flags:
- Impossible price. Anthropic’s plans are billed monthly through claude.ai or the API. There’s no “$14.95 lifetime” tier, and no legitimate reseller can offer one.
- “ClaudHub 2.0” isn’t an Anthropic product. The name is built to look official. The link goes to launchpadjv.com, a third-party affiliate/JV-launch site, not anthropic.com or claude.ai.
- “GPT-6 ASTRA” and Claude models in one dashboard. Bundling a rival company’s model into the same deal is a sign of fabrication.
- Fake scarcity. “Only 5 copies remain” and “first 100 buyers” are standard pressure tactics. Software has no copies to run out of.
- “Commercial License” claim. Only Anthropic can license Claude’s use, and its terms already allow commercial use under normal paid plans. This is padding to make the deal seem valuable.
- Income hype. “One small freelance job pays you back” is typical get-rich-quick framing.
- Triple-repeated link and bonus stacking. Classic affiliate-marketing email structure. The sender likely earns commission per click or sale.
What likely happens if you buy:
- Best case: you get a thin wrapper around an API, a shared or pirated account, or a cheap chatbot that quietly stops working.
- Worse: your card details go to an unknown processor, you get upsold repeatedly, or shared or stolen logins get banned.
- There’s no refund recourse from Anthropic, because you never bought from them.
What to do: Don’t click the link. Mark it as spam or phishing and delete it. If you want Claude, use claude.ai directly. If you already paid, contact your card issuer about a chargeback.
The Lesson for All of Us
Scammers now have access to some of the most sophisticated writing tools ever built.
Where a phishing email once gave itself away with clumsy grammar and strange phrasing, an AI-assisted one can arrive polished, persuasive and tailored to its target, with urgency dialled up to exactly the right pitch.
The old tells are fading, and the machines that make the deception cheap and fluent are, ironically, the same technology many of us now rely on for honest work.
Yet the best defence against all this has not changed in two thousand years.
Caveat emptor, “let the buyer beware”, is advice that predates the printing press, the postal service and the internet, and it works just as well against a machine-written pitch as it did against a Roman horse trader.
Slow down, question the too-good-to-be-true offer, check who is actually selling, and distrust anyone who hurries you.
For all our technological progress, the first line of protection against the newest kind of fraud is still the oldest: a sceptical human being who stops to think before paying.
